A Brotherhood of Leaders

"Men join fraternities. Leaders of men join Sigma Chi."

- John Wayne, Alpha Upsilon 1929

Sigma Chi is a brotherhood with deep roots in the collegiate experience. It engenders a lifelong commitment to strive towards Friendship, Justice and Learning, the core values upon which the fraternity was founded. Our mission is to develop values-based leaders committed to excellence, and the betterment of character, campus and community.

Sigma Chis abide by these ideals through the practice of character qualities embodied in our Ritual, and continuously reaffirm our purpose through the observance of Sigma Chi’s Governing Laws and through adherence to the decisions of our legislative assemblies, which empower and direct our leadership.

Sigma Chi welcomes men of different temperaments, talents, and convictions, and prides itself on the diversity of its members, and the strength of its brotherhood.

With 239 undergraduate chapters and over 300,000 members, Sigma Chi is one of the largest fraternities, with the most number of undergraduate brothers attending university. The Theta Upsilon chapter was founded in 1986 at Yale University. It resides at 33 Lynwood Place, just next to campus.
